The Headlamp on a vehicle is a major safety feature, and it is a legal requirement that they should be kept in working order at all times. Old vehicles had Tungsten Headlamps, but for decades have been supplied as Halogen (Halogen bulbs). Many modern vehicles are supplied with Xenon Headlamps (Xenon gas bulbs), and some now have LED sections.
To easily identify the Headlamp you need, check – Halogen or Xenon? – Is the Headlamp Manual or Electric levelling? – Does the Headlamp have an indicator attached? – Is the indicator Clear or Amber? – Does the Headlamp lens have a Beam Pattern (cross hatched lines on lens) or is it on the reflector at the back of the inside of the Headlamp? – Is the inside of the Headlamp chrome or does if have a coloured bezel surround?
